In our previous article, we discussed our visit to Pink Gellac’s most engaged store in Rotterdam and featured insights from Kirsten de Ruiter, the Retail Manager of Pink Gellac. She highlighted the significance of MobieTrain in their strategy to onboard and train employees, contributing to both her personal and the company’s goals.
Michelle, the training content creator for Pink Gellac’s MobieTrain users, plays a key role in this process. In this article, she shares insights into her work, the creative process behind her training, and how Pink Gellac uses MobieTrain to connect and engage their team.
For a training content creator, the objective is straightforward: to create engaging, visually appealing, and useful content for colleagues with minimal effort and maximum results. You should be able to upload, update, customise, and scale up the content at any time with just a few clicks.
Michelle is the training wizard at Pink Gellac, creating brilliant content for all their employees, starting from their very first day. She knows better than anyone how MobieTrain can benefit a company, serving as a vital pillar in making their team the best-engaged group.
Breathing the Brand, Knowing the Product
Pink Gellac faces many challenges similar to other retail companies, regardless of industry. With over 10 stores and 100 employees, creating effective onboarding and training content is crucial to ensure everyone is aligned, deployable as soon as possible, deeply in love with the brand story and values, and always up-to-date with new products.
Michelle explains where her focus lies: “Once our team really breathes our brand, the main focus is on improving their product knowledge. It’s the core of our business, and you can only offer the best customer experience if you know all the products in our collection. If all the options pop up almost naturally in your mind, you can give the best suggestions that suit a person the most.”
Preparation is key. “We know that some periods during the year will be crazy—Black Friday, for example. It’s a super busy and important moment, so we all need to absorb new information before it starts, especially in the new stores. We upload the information and training for Black Friday to the platform in mid-October. For new collections, we do it a week before, so part-time workers also have time to catch up with the training.”
The week before a new collection launch is crucial: “We put the finishing touches on the tracks and ensure everything is ready to roll out. The flexibility of MobieTrain makes it easier to adjust our tracks based on our real-time needs.”
MobieTrain provides reassurance after the launch as well. “It’s comforting to know that even if it’s busy, all our colleagues have all the information with them on their phones at all times. If needed, they can ask the AI Assistant Mobie to get an answer in seconds. It makes them more self-confident and autonomous.”
Adding Fun—Nobody Loves Boring
But there’s more: “We also run tracks on soft skills like DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), teamwork, and managing diversity within the team. Our customer service tracks ensure consistency across stores, making onboarding not just easier but also more impactful. Our entire training approach, including the MobieTrain tracks, is part of our goal to improve our KPIs by helping our team feel more connected and engaged.”
It’s not just about the information you include in the tracks; the way you present it matters too. “Microlearning as such already delivers impressive results, as it only takes our employees a few minutes to learn something each day. Imagine the result when they do it every day for a longer period.”
“We add some extra spice by including fun challenges that make learning more enjoyable. Every new training highlights a new product collection, and I introduce them, for instance, through games like a bingo card. This creative twist ensures everyone is on the same page, from understanding the new product lines to having fun learning about them.”

An Intuitive Content Management System
Michelle has managed to push her teams’ engagement to new heights with her training content. She emphasises the importance of an easy-to-use platform. “MobieTrain is a really intuitive and straightforward system. It only took a little time in the beginning to get used to it, but now I’m familiar with it, it’s smooth sailing. And that’s crucial as I need to create content regularly. It needs to be user-friendly, shouldn’t require tons of time, and it’s important that you can vary enough with types of content.”
Michelle often begins her content planning in Canva. “I use whiteboard features to brainstorm ideas before creating them in MobieTrain. I also think it’s helpful to combine our lifestyle and marketing images with visuals from my own team, making the content more relatable for our users. MobieTrain offers different content formats, from quizzes to crash courses or video-only content, which is great. I think we should use these multiple options to keep the learning experience varied.”
Creating training content is also a two-way street. “Who knows better than the beauty advisors in our stores what they need to know to do their job better? They’re there every week, so they understand the questions our customers have. That’s why I ask them for feedback and input, like rating the tracks and taking pictures. It makes the content creation process even more collaborative and helps to keep the content both relevant and personalised. The review and coaching capabilities of the MobieTrain platform make it easy to gather this feedback.”
Keep Nailing It in the Future
Michelle has big plans for the future of Pink Gellac: “Right now, I dedicate about 10 hours a week to creating content, but my goal is to spend 20 hours per week on it. I want to develop a growth curve and build even better, more detailed tracks over time.”
There are also ideas regarding Pink Gellac’s operations: “As I mentioned earlier, we’ve started creating seasonal tracks for special retail periods, like Black Friday. These include mood boards and ‘how-to’ tracks to help prepare our team for the busy season.”
Winning the award for the best-engaged team only motivates Michelle and her team to do even better. “In 2025, we’re looking at a rebrand for MobieTrain at Pink Gellac, and we’re excited to continue growing with the platform.”
“During the recent visit from the MobieTrain team, we had a nice conversation about how we can continue helping each other overcome our challenges in the future and which new features could be interesting to tackle them.”
“For now, the AI Translator or Content Generator can help us translate and/or create our training tracks in other languages. We’re looking forward to what the future of our partnership will bring,” Michelle concludes with a smile.
